2 Samuel 8

Before Reading.

  • Centering prayer— Pray for illumination, “Lord, open my heart and mind by the power of the Holy Spirit,” and remain in silence.

Reading.

  • Read slowly, keeping any words or phrase that come to your mind, and mark on them.
  • Close eyes and meditate on what you read.
  • Take a note if you have question, inspiration.   

Read 2 Samuel 8

David’s victories.   

King David extended territory by defeating Philistines to the west, Moab to the east, Zobah to the north, Edom to the south. “The Lord gave David victory wherever he went,” (v.6, 14).

Along with conquering the land outside, he made secure internal affair too. His ruling principle was justice and righteousness by establishing leadership among the people in Israel.
